Cairo – Mubasher: Vodafone Egypt invested EGP 9.5 billion in upgrading the company’s network over the past three years, said CEO Ahmed Essam on Monday.
Regarding 4G services, Essam stated that 4G license requirements have not been officially announced yet, but with regulatory and financial requirements appropriate for the company, 4G services will be at the ready within 3-4 months.
In addition, he found that offering dollar-denominated 4G services a bit problematic as the mobile operator has limited dollar resources and cannot, like other companies, easily provide foreign currency.
Commenting on 2G and 3G services provided by Vodafone Egypt, the CEO said the quality is almost as good as the level delivered in many European countries.
The pricing policy is determined based many factors, including competitiveness, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’s (NTRA) approval as well as price sensitivity, he further clarified.
In Egypt, official data revealed that the number of cell-phone users reached 94.6 million by the end of February, of which 38.9 million were Vodafone subscribers.
