Vodafone Qatar, Qatari Diar ink telecom infrastructure deal

Mubasher: Vodafone Qatar and Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company on Sunday have signed an agreement to provide Lusail city with cutting-edge telecommunications infrastructure.

The new agreement aims at making the Qatari city one of the most technologically advanced and connected cities in the world, according to Vodafone’s statement to the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE).

As per the deal, Vodafone Qatar will be the first telecom operator to provide indoor mobile coverage for more than 10 buildings owned and managed by Qatari Diar.

In the same vein, Vodafone Qatar will build an extensive, high-speed fibre technology network with a speed of 1 gigabit per second spanning an area of 38 square meters, according to the statement.

It is noteworthy that more than 450,000 people will benefit from the new telecommunications infrastructure, the telecommunication firm noted.

Vodafone Qatar did not mention further details concerning the project’s total cost.
