Mubasher: Saad Al Kaabi, president and CEO of Qatar Petroleum (QP), said on Wednesday that his country is committed to fulfilling its obligations regarding the gas supply agreements with the UAE, despite the current sanctions.
Cutting Qatari gas supplies would cause a great damage to the UAE, especially that it is used for generating 45% of its electricity, Al Kaabi added during a lecture in Qatar University.
Qatar provides 2 billion cubic feet of gas to the UAE, as well as 200 million to 300 million cubic meters of gas sold from QP’s plants, Al Kaabi continued.
QP is committed to supplying gas, except for the force-majeure situations, such as; wars, earthquakes, and sanctions, as per the 25-year agreement, Al Kaabi added.
The company is working on development operations in the North Dome Gas Field, QP president continued, noting that Qatar had boosted its production by 20% earlier.
