Woqod opens new station in Doha

Doha - Mubasher: Qatar Fuel Company (Woqod) opened a new petrol station in Umm Ghawilina in east Doha on Monday, 3 April, the company said on Wednesday.

This is the company’s second petrol station in 2017 after the one in Abu Nakhlah, which was opened in February this year, according to a statement to the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE).

Umm Ghawilina brings the total number of petrol stations owned by Woqod to 57 stations including mobile stations, the company added.

The petrol station covers an area of 8,500 square metres and has six lanes with three filling points each.

Late last month, the Qatari fuel company said it was planning to open 15 more stations across the country by the end of 2017.

Woqod had previously reported opening four stations in December 2016, which are located in Old Alghanim, Al Thameed, Msherieb, and Old Al Rayyan areas.

The company’s net profits for 2016 stood at QAR 975.02 million compared to QAR 1.15 billion in 2015, registering a drop of 15.2%.

Commenting on the opening of the new station, Woqod’s CEO Saad Rashid Al Mohannadi said: "We are pleased to open this station in the area of Umm Ghawilina, which is witnessing heavy traffic because of its distinctive location and will certainly contribute to reducing congestion and providing basic services to the community in the area around the clock.”
