Work in world's largest sports mall in Dubai on track- Viva City

Dubai — Mubasher: The UAE's Viva City announced that construction works of Sport Society, the world's largest sports mall, is on pace for completion in early 2020.

Located in Mirdif Dubai, the three-story facility is designed to meet the aspirations of both residents and tourists.

“The project’s construction work is progressing according to schedule and within the allocated budget, thanks to the efficient operations of Khansaheb Civil Engineering, the company commissioned to carry out the construction works,” Viva City's head of design Edgar Bove told Arabia Business.

The sports mall will feature three floors with a total area that is equal to 12 football pitches, with a large-space ground floor that will be fit for organising various sporting events, the Dubai-based firm developer said.

The Sport Society’s second and third levels will feature retail outlets by the most prominent international sports brands, in addition to dedicated spaces for various sports activities and a big chain of restaurants and cafes, providing organic food and beverages.

The mall also combines a gym, cricket simulators, climbing walls, a full-size National Hockey League (NHL) ice rink, and gymnastics and soft play area.

Almost 60,000 cubic metres of structural concrete has been poured so far with the erection of nine structural steel trusses, Edgar Bove said.

Work has also begun on installing huge LED screens throughout the development which will broadcast local and international entertainment and sports news, he noted.

“We are dealing with the challenging delivery period which will be achieved by using cutting edge, time saving and modern construction techniques,” Viva City's head of design said.

The investment cost of the development was not revealed.
