Mubasher: Remittances from expatriate workers in Qatar increased 12.8% to $10 billion in the first nine months of 2017, the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) announced on Thursday.
Foreign workers' remittances in the world’s biggest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) reached QAR 36.10 billion ($9.9 billion) between January and September 2017 compared to QAR 32.01 billion ($8.79 billion) in the same period in 2016, according to the report.
The QCB previously reported that Qatar’s expatriate remittances had reached $12 billion in 2016.
Qatar houses over 2.1 million expatriates, representing 88% of the country’s demographics. The majority of these expatriates are Asians.
