Cairo – Mubasher: The World Bank’s executive council has approved $530 million grant for the development of Egypt’s healthcare sector, according to the Egyptian investment and international cooperation minister.
This is the World Bank’s largest grant to the North African nation in the healthcare sector, Sahar Nasr said in a statement on Thursday.
The grant will focus on developing the healthcare services, including primary and social healthcare, reinforcing family planning services, stepping up efforts to fight hepatitis C virus, and improving the abilities of the country’s institutions to guarantee sustainable reforms in a bid to enhance the health sector, she highlighted.
The government has directly cured around 2 million citizens of hepatitis C virus, she indicated, noting it will launch huge campaigns across the Arab world's most populous nation for nearly 35 million people and will cure anyone diagnosed with the virus.
