World Bank provides $500m to social housing project in Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian cabinet has approved an additional funding worth $500 million from the World Bank to finance the social housing programme.

Such funding will be used to finance the social housing projects currently being implemented to low-income people, according to a statement on Wednesday.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian housing minister Assem El-Gazzar announced on Tuesday that expenditures on the social housing project reached EGP 43.2 million, noting that around 394,000 units have already been established.
