By: Aseel Bin Taleb

Riyadh – Mubasher: Yemen is working on finalising the first deal to sell Yemeni oil in a month, the country’s minister of planning and international cooperation, Mohamed al-Maitami said late Tuesday.

In late July, the Yemeni government announced the sale of 3 million oil barrels in Al Dhaba oil port in the Hadramaut province for the first time in over a year because of the war.

During a workshop held Wednesday in Saudi Arabia on the recovery and reconstruction of Yemen, Al Maitami told Mubasher that the Yemeni finance ministry was in talks with international institutions and funds to find solutions to protect the economy from collapsing.

The workshop has showed the unified stance of the regional and international communities towards the reconstruction of Yemen, The minister noted

He added that around 21 representatives from the US and EU countries as well as mega financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID), understand Yemen’s need for support.
